Fair point, at least as far as it goes... I mean I accept that it's an unacceptable omission for you, but I could not care less about Flash, to be completely honest. Admittedly I was referring to iTunes-based Film and TV purchases and video podcasts when I was talking about video on the go, so apologies for the confusion there. Just about the only thing that I use Flash for at all any more (even at home) is iPlayer, and I can live without that for the iPad, seeing as I will be able to have it at home ;-)

You forgot #4 "No Flash support", especially as you mentioned "video consumption on the go". I'm sure HTML5 will fix that eventually but in the meantime it's a big restriction. I can live with it on my iPhone but it's unacceptable on something like the iPad.

I reckon Apple are right on the money with this one, I see it as the successor to the macbook air (which I believe was way ahead of its time). The price is right, the form factor is right, the apps are all already out there. I for one have a growing digital book/comic collection that is just aching for a device to read them on. I still can't read on the laptop but the iPad might be different.

I haven't made up my mind either. I went from thinking this is great to now I'm not so sure. I think the problem is how could Apple top the iPhone? It's such a fantastic piece of kit that it's hard to beat. So they've made it bigger and taken the phone out of it. For that reason I think it's disappointing because it will be far too expensive for what it is imo.

The features that would make this a must have for me -
1. Turn it into a universal remote - give it infra red as well as the wi-fi and bluetooth and you have a true all in one that could be stunning as a remote. Infact it could have been the hub of a home entertainment house!

2. Expansion slots for SD cards etc, 64Gb as a max just isn't enough.

3. HDMI output - it should be possible to connect to your large screen plasma/lcd.

From my pov, the thing I'd like that it lacks is stylus input. Give it that and the right apps and it (potentially) becomes a seriously flexible rpg assistant. Dice rollers, flick of the finger stat cards, quick (handwritten) note taking and picture (map) projection all from one device (two with a projector).. that'd be cool.

I probably won't see any replies to this Ol, cos I'm not a frequent visitor. IM me to flame me back ;-)
